Privacy Policy for Rum Reef

This Privacy Policy describes how Rum Reef ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects information across our apps and online tools, including Simple Product Backup and any other applications we release in the future (collectively, "our Apps").
This policy applies to all current and future Rum Reef apps unless a specific app's listing states otherwise.
What We Do Not Collect
Rum Reef apps are built around store and merchant-level data, not personal customer data. Unless explicitly stated in an individual app's listing, our Apps do not access, collect, store, or process personal information about your customers, such as names, email addresses, or order history. Each app's specific scope of access is limited to what is necessary for that app's stated functionality.
Information We Access
The specific information an app accesses depends on that app's functionality and the permissions you grant during installation. For example, Simple Product Backup accesses your store's product catalog, including titles, descriptions, pricing, variants, images, and metafields, along with your store's domain name to identify your account.
Information accessed by any of our Apps is used solely to provide that app's stated functionality. We do not use this information for marketing, advertising, or analytics unrelated to the app's core purpose.
Information You Provide
Some of our Apps may ask you to provide information directly, such as a notification email address for delivering files or updates. Any information you provide is stored securely and used only for the purpose you provided it for. We do not sell or share this information with third parties, and we do not use it for marketing purposes.
How We Store Information
- Account and session information is stored in an encrypted database and used only to authenticate each app's connection to your store.
- Files generated by our Apps (such as backup files) are stored temporarily on our hosting infrastructure for a limited retention period specific to that app, after which they are automatically and permanently deleted.
- Files may also be delivered to you directly, such as by email. We do not control retention of that content once it is delivered to you.
Specific retention periods are described in the listing or documentation for each individual app.
Third-Party Services
Our Apps rely on a small number of trusted third-party service providers to operate, including services for accessing store data through platform APIs (such as Shopify's API), delivering files or notifications, and securely hosting our applications and your account information.
These providers process information only as necessary to deliver our Apps' functionality and do not have independent access to your store data beyond what is required for that purpose.
Data Retention
Generated files (such as backups) are retained only for the period specified by the individual app and are then automatically deleted from our servers. If you uninstall an app, your account information and stored session data are automatically deleted within 48 hours.
Your Rights
Because our Apps do not collect personal data about your customers, there is typically no customer data to request, correct, or delete. If you have questions about information we hold related to your own store account, such as a notification email address, you may contact us using the information below.
Future Apps
As Rum Reef releases additional apps and online tools, this Privacy Policy will continue to apply to them unless a specific app requires different handling of information, in which case that app's listing will clearly state any differences.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
